Lok Janshakti Party National Executive Meeting 14th June 2009, New Delhi

National Executive of Lok Janshakti Party met on 14th June 2009 in New Delhi to take stock of the performance of LJP in recently held Parliamentary Elections and to deliberate upon prevailing political, social and economic situation in the country. The meeting was chaired by Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, National President of Lok Janshakti Party. After detailed deliberations the following resolutions were adopted.

It is noted with satisfaction that in the recently held parliamentary elections the BJP led NDA was comprehensively rejected by the people for its negative and divisive ideology and the UPA coalition was re-elected with greater strength.

LJP resolves to continue its struggle for the all round empowerment of Dalits, Adivasis, Minorities and Backward classes. The party will mobilize public opinion in favor of such empowerment through all democratic means such as rallies, public meetings, seminars etc. and peaceful agitations if necessary.

LJP believes that the increasing role of private sector in our economy has shrunk employment opportunities in the Government and public sector. LJP therefore, proposes that the facility of reservation for SC/STs should be extended to private sector so that they can get representation in all spheres of life in the changing economic world.

LJP recognizes that unemployment is a burning problem for crores of our youth in rural as well as urban areas. The party therefore proposes that year round employment guarantee should be provided to all poor people living in rural as well as urban areas. In order to realize this goal, ‘right to work’ should be made a fundamental right under the constitution.

LJP supports reservation for women in parliament and state legislatures with the modification that such reservation should have provision for sub-quota for Dalits, Backwards and Minorities. The party will support changes to this effect in the proposed legislation.

LJP proposes creation of an All India Judicial Service on the lines of IAS, IPS and IFS with reservation for SC/ST/OBC as per Constitutional provisions.

LJP proposes tabling of Rangnath Mishra Commission Report along with action taken report in Parliament, so that religious minorities could avail benefits of reservation in higher education and Government employment.

LJP supports the right to education for all and proposes that weaker sections should also be given opportunities to study in public schools. To ensure this, adequate reservation should be provided to weaker sections in public schools.

LJP believes that mere sloganeering can not bring about a social and economic transformation. The Governments at the center and state level have to work sincerely and purposefully to achieve these goals.

LJP strongly believes that despite its tall claims of providing good governance, the Nitish Kumar government has completely failed to provide protection to the weaker sections in Bihar. The recent incident of brutal killing of four Muslims and an advasi in Purnia has exposed the failure of the government to provide basic safety and security to the vulnerable sections of society. LJP demands that the culprits be brought to book and the victims’ families should be given immediate and adequate compensation. LJP also demands that the report of Bandopadhyay Commission on land reforms legislation should be made public and implemented in right earnest.

LJP believes that the Nitish Kumar government has divided the scheduled castes in Bihar into Dalits and Maha Dalits not with the intention of benefiting the Maha Dalits but to ultimately remove the fighter castes of Paswan (Dussadh) and Ravidas (Chamar) from the list of scheduled castes in the long run. The LJP demands that the Vishwmohan Rishi Commission Report on Maha Dalits and the Uday Kant Choudhary Commission Report on Extremely Backward Castes (EBCs) should be made public and implemented in right earnest.

LJP acknowledges that RJD-LJP alliance in Bihar is the only credible alternative to the ruling JDU-BJP combine to protect the interests of all sections of society. Therefore RJD-LJP alliance will continue in future also.

LJP has noted with concern various complaints about manipulation and misuse of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) during the recent elections. LJP is therefore opposed to the use of  EVMs and believes that reverting back to the old system of polling through paper ballots is the only solution to such manipulations and misuse.

LJP strongly condemns racial attacks on Indians in Australia and urges upon the Govt. of India to use all possible avenues to ensure safety and security of all Indians living in Australia.

LJP strongly condemns the gruesome murder of Dera Sachkhands’ Chief Sant Ramanand in Vienna. The party demands that the Central Govt. should make all efforts to bring the perpetrators of this murder to book. LJP believes that the murder of Sant Ramanand who was a source of great inspiration for the suppressed people of Punjab, is a great loss for the nation. LJP is opposed to all kind of casteist and religious extremism. The National Executive of LJP offers its heart felt condolences to the departed soul.

The LJP will carry out intensive training programs for its cadres for which party national camps (Shivirs) will be organized on 12, 13 and 14 August 2009 at Bodh Gaya.

The party resolved to hold a joint Rally with RJD on 19th July 2009 in Patna.
