12 MAY 2009

The Lok Janshakti Party strongly refutes the reports of fissures in the LJP-SP-RJD grand alliance formed to jointly fight the communal forces in the states of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. The Party takes exception to the news reports carried in a section of the media ascribing motives to the absence of Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, President, Lok Janshakti Party from the Rally held at Rampur on 11th May, 2009.

Shri Ram Vilas Paswan had prior commitments scheduled for the day and the invitation to participate in the rally was received much later. It was, therefore, not possible to reschedule commitments already made. The Party considers such news reports as not based on facts and merely speculative.

The leadership of the three constituents, ie. LJP, SP and RJD, would discuss jointly and decide the strategy on the formation of a secular government at the Centre, after the polling gets over on the 13th May. The Lok Janshakti Party is committed to the grand alliance formed for the elections for the 15th Lok Sabha and reiterates that the LJP-SP-RJD would contest jointly the Assembly polls in the states of Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, as and when held.
