Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, MP and National President, Lok Janshakti Party during his two days 20th & 21st September 2010 visit to Jammu & Kashmir alongwith the all party delegation had discussions with a large section of the people from various walks of life including Shri Syed Ali Shah Gilani, Yasin Malik and others. He had discussions with several leaders of political parties, University Profs., leader of Students Union, Business Community etc. He met Shri Syed Shah Gilani at his residence and had an hour long discussion with him. In the meeting with Yasin Mallik Shri Basudev Acharya and other member of Parliament were also present. Shri Paswan met the people & family member of Yasin Mallik’s nephew who died in the police firing. On Tuesday Shri Paswan alongwith other member of delegation visited Hazratbal Dargah and participated in prayer.
Addressing a Press Conference on his return from Kashmir to Patna Shri Paswan stated that J&K was an integral part of India like the other states of the union but considering the special status and historical background of this state, within the fame work of Indian Constitution attorney should be consider for the state of J&K. He stated that special power act should be withdrawn from the state. Armed Forces should be deployed depute only in the areas where terrorist were still active. He stated that people of Kashmir complained against the intensive deployment of the armed forces, erection of bunkers, check posts all over the roads, frequent checks not only made them full humiliated and insulted but also making them feel insecure. This kind of situation was being exploited by the separatists and was working against our national interest. Shri Paswan stated that medicine shops, students, faculty members and educational institutions should be exempt from curfew so that the education of the children does not suffer. Shri Paswan stated that public safety at should used only against the terrorist but in reality it was found that a large number of innocent have been arrested under this act. People complained that which as in other parts of the country victims in police firing and their family members were not only compensated for lost of life and injury but also action was taken against the guilty officers. But in state of J&K victims were treated differently.
Shri Paswan stated that in recent firing only innocent and young children have lost their lives. He demanded that compensation of 20 lakhs to the family member of dead should be given and one number of each family should be given govt. job. All the cases of police firing in which people lost life should be enquired into and action taken against guilty.
Shri Paswan stated that unemployment was a very major problem in the state of J&K. But big problem was people's loss of faith and trust is establishment and govt. This needs to be handled carefully and with compassion, sympathy and giving a human touch to all the sufferings. The visit of all party delegation has given hope to the people of getting justice. But it was also several complaint several such delegation of past in which promises were made but desired result was yet to be seen. Shri Paswan appeal to the Prime Minister to initiate necessary time bound action plan on the basis of all party delegation to provide help and relief to the suffering of people and address their genuine problems. Shri Paswan stated that govt. should start dialogue with all section of J&K including separatists leaders so that peace returns the valley.
