A delegation of teachers from Delhi University met Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, MP and National President Lok Janshakti Party at 12 Janpath, New Delhi and presented a memorandum to him pointing out the catastrophic effect that the proposed semester system at New Delhi University will have an students belonging to weaker sections.
University exams being held in November will give no time to teachers to train students in basic concepts and will result in large scale failure especially of students belonging to weaker section.
Shri Ram Vilas Paswan assured the delegation that he would take the issue up with the Government, and if the proposed policy of semesterisation is not a reconsidered before the next session of Parliament, the Shri Paswan would raise it in Parliament and launch an agitation against it. The delegation also informed Shri Paswan that a memorandum had been submitted to Shri Punaiya, Chairperson, SC/ST Commission, some of the teachers who participated in this meeting were.
